It's just a job....

For anyone who works in retail... this is going to be something you can relate to.. or maybe not.

Ever have a day where you just can't get over what inconsiderate jerks your customers are? I have those all the time. I work in a retail store which is a huge chain ... hundreds of stores across the country. I work nearly everyday... while still being in school every afternoon, so I am stressed as it is. I have seen some of the worst displays of human interaction, complete disregard for anyone else, and simply... just disgusting and unbelievable events.

For example...
One time... a friend of mine was cleaning out the fitting rooms in the juniors department... one thing we know now since starting at this store... is to NEVER scoop. always pick up piece by piece... well as she was picking up piece by piece.. she learned that some of the clothing was covered in... none other than URINE. yes to put it nicely.. someone had peed all over a pile of clothes... now WHY would anyone want to do that? How can you even have that thought go through your head and be okay with it? So she called the manager and he told her to just bag the clothing and throw it away... as she continues to clean the fitting room... she notices underneath the bench... a blood-stained pair of underwear wadded up in the corner. Some girl had an accident and helped herself to new underwear...and just left hers lying around. Now.. not only is that disgusting.. but it could be hazardous to someone's health!!!! Let's have some courtesy people! And for those customers who want to come in and try on clothes... they do NOT want to walk in and see bloody underwear or smell clothes that someone has urinated all over. Right? I think that is so disrespectful.

Second example... in the fitting rooms where someone previously left their bloody underwear.... someone was sick and vomited all over the floor. Well being the swell human being they were.. they covered it up ... with out merchandise... that's right.. covered it in our clothes. What is the point and why can you not be a decent person and cover it up. If you are sick... why not stay home, rest, and get well?

On a normal basis... since we have senior citizen day... we have elderly people shopping in our store all day long. Sometimes the elderly people have accidents. ... they go to the bathroom in the fitting room and don't tell anyone... they just leave it for someone else to find.

One person... was unaware they had diarrhea ... all down the aisle way... from one end of the store to the other. and just walked out of the store like nothing happened. Now I'm sure it was terribly embarrassing, but if you are having that kind of trouble... stay home!

Other random events....
I've had a lady come in and ask for help finding items for her spell... and when I didn't have what she needed I'm sure she cast a spell on me.

Same lady came back, shopped until 20 minutes after we closed... and was randomly picking items off the shelves.... she tried to steal over $200 worth of jewelry and dressed (for juniors not even herself)

Once, A lady threw a pair of pants on the counter which were size one and asked if that was the size I wore because her daughter was my size... and when I said no I don't wear that size... she asked me if I was pregnant?!?!?!? WHAT?!?!?!? Are you serious?! Because I don't wear size one?! Honestly.

Another time... we had a shoplifter... steal over $700 worth of stuff for her and her daughter... sounds sad right? always when a little child is involved... except that her husband was a doctor and she was in the process of divorcing him and it was a thrill ride for her to try to shoplift and not get caught. Why be that stupid?!

Constantly people leave credit cards and driver's licenses laying around or on the counters or in the fitting rooms and restrooms and then blame us for trying to steal their identity (I think not)

... I could probably go on forever... but I'll stop for now... since I'm there practically everyday and I now have somewhere to vent... you'll probably hear a lot more.
